What to Expect from OpenAI's GPT-5

What to Expect from OpenAI's GPT-5

Today, we’re going to talk about OpenAI’s GPT-5 and what we can expect from it.

GPT-4 was released in March 2023, and since then, everyone has been eagerly waiting for the release of GPT-5. However, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, clarified at an MIT event in April that GPT-5 won’t be released for some time, despite a tweet from Chad on March 27 stating otherwise.

Some experts have suggested that OpenAI might release an intermediate version, GPT-4.5, before GPT-5. This version would include improvements to the current models and potentially introduce multi-model capabilities.

Although there are high expectations for GPT-5, GPT-4 still needs some improvements. For example, GPT-4’s inference times are very high, making it computationally expensive to run. There are also challenges with accessing GPT-4’s APIs. However, each release of the GPT series has pushed the boundaries of AI technology.

One of the expected features of GPT-5 is the reduction of hallucinations to less than 10%. This improvement aims to make AI models more trustworthy. Additionally, OpenAI will need to focus on improving compute efficiency to compete with other models like Google’s Palm 2.

Another anticipated feature is the introduction of multi-sensory capabilities. GPT-5 is expected to handle not only text and images but also audio, videos, temperature, and more. This will enable more dynamic and interactive conversations.

GPT-5 is also expected to have a longer context length, allowing users to have an AI friend that can remember their persona and history for years. This improvement will enhance contextual understanding and provide more meaningful and consistent responses.

Furthermore, GPT-5 is expected to have improved understanding of language and emotion. This will enable it to be more empathetic and produce appropriate replies.

In conclusion, while we are still waiting for more information about the potential capabilities of GPT-5, it is clear that OpenAI is working on overcoming the challenges faced by GPT-4 and GPT-3.5. The release of GPT-5 holds the promise of higher performance and more advanced AI capabilities.

Disclaimer: This article is based on the current challenges faced by GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 and how OpenAI can use these hurdles to produce a higher-performing release of GPT-5.
