Using Specific ChatGPT or AI Prompts in Class

Hello students! This video is an introduction to how you will be using specific chatGPT or other AI prompts within our class. You may have already received a handout that provides instructions for using these prompts effectively. In this video, we will discuss some specific strategies for applying these prompts and keeping a record of your work.

To complete the assignment, you will also need to access the links and resources provided on our Moodle page. Let’s start by taking a look at the assignment itself. Although the details may vary depending on your specific class, we will use an example from English 101.

The assignment asks you to use AI prompts for brainstorming. The handout you received contains background information, prerequisites, and the exact prompts. These prompts are carefully designed to ensure they yield good results and do not hinder your success in the assignment.

For this assignment, you are required to write a personal narrative about a specific cultural interaction where you may have misunderstood or been misunderstood. The brainstorming exercise is meant to generate situations that you can respond to in your own narrative.

To use the AI prompts, you will need to access ChatGPT. Please note that the interface may look different over time and when you are logged into your own account. If you are using this on your own computer, make sure to create an account in advance to save your transcripts. Saving transcripts is a required part of the assignment.

Once you have ChatGPT open, you can input the specific prompt provided in the assignment. This will generate a list of situations related to the prompt. Select a situation that resonates with you and proceed to the next step.

Before moving forward, it is important to save the link to the chat and give credit to it within your paper. In the top right corner of the ChatGPT interface, you will find an option to share the link. Copy the link and include it in your paper.

In your paper, describe your use of AI for brainstorming and include the link to the chat transcript. You can use the provided MLA paper template and follow the guidelines for documenting your use of AI.

At the end of each session with AI, make sure to save the full link to the chat transcript. This allows your instructor to review the prompts and information you received through AI. Formatting the transcript is not required, as long as you share the full link.
