Thank you. Anyone who starts their first day on the job can feel a level of anxiety. Specifically for new teachers, you want to ensure that you have everything you need to serve the students correctly. Maybe you’re an experienced teacher looking to switch things up in the classroom. ChatGPT can be a great resource for you. It can save time and make processes more efficient. I want to highlight a way that teachers can utilize ChatGPT to save time and spend more quality time with their students.
As I always like to say, ChatGPT is a tool and should not be used independently. Always confirm work before utilizing it. As a newer or experienced teacher, you may have a certain style or styles for teaching. You may be teaching a newer topic or grade. In this case, ChatGPT can assist in the process of teaching a newer subject matter.
Let’s take a simple example. Let’s have ChatGPT help us teach fifth-grade U.S. geography. As a teacher, can you help me teach fifth-grade U.S. geography? Considering the response, it’s asking us if there are certain topics that I’d like assistance with. Of course, the better information you give it, the better response you get. So, I’ll just provide a little bit of clarity. Yes, I need help with teaching U.S. cities, U.S. states, and capitals. Actually, I spelled capitals incorrectly, but as you can see, it’s actually given a step-by-step synopsis of what we can do. From an interactive map, songs and rhymes, flashcards, online quizzes, state research projects, and classroom games, it’s given us a ton of different ways in which we could teach geography to our students. What I really like, though, is at the end where it reminds us to reinforce learning through regular practice and repetition. In education, it is required that students reinforce their learning, and this is a great tool and a way to do so.
Now, let’s do another example. Let’s teach covalent bonding at an 11th-grade level. Now, I gave it something a little bit more specific and challenging from that perspective, but it still gives a step-by-step breakdown of the different steps we can take throughout this process. If we were to go through it, it’s given us a lot of different things to really make sure we are putting together a really good plan for our students. And as you can see, if we were to go up, it gives an introduction by giving a general overview. It goes through topics like electron sharing, bond types, polar and non-polar covalent bonds, and even suggests certain things that they could do in class, such as lab activities, practice, application, and real-world connections. So, this is a great tool to save time as a teacher. If you’re looking to switch things up or you’re a newer teacher just looking to build a strong foundation, ChatGPT could be a great resource for you. Thank you for joining us today, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
