Using ChatGPT for Excel Basic Users

Using ChatGPT for Excel Basic Users

Welcome to this video on ChatGPT for Excel basic users. Now, when I ask people if they know Excel, they often say yes. But when I ask them if they know GPT, they say yes, but let’s try to understand how these two tools complement each other. This tool will help you understand how Excel works better and how GPT can assist you when you get stuck in any problematic area.

Let’s start with an example. Suppose I have an Excel file and I type ‘Monday’ in cell A1. If I drag down, I’ll get Monday to Saturday and Sunday. Similarly, if I type ‘January’ and drag down, I’ll get January to December. However, if I type ‘Pune’ (the city I come from) and drag down, I’ll get a list of all the cities. This feature is known as a custom list in Excel.

To create a custom list in Microsoft Excel, go to the File menu, then Excel Options, and select Edit Custom List. Enter the names you want in the list and click OK. Now, when you type one of those names and drag down, you’ll get the corresponding list.

Another useful tool in Excel is Power Query, which is used for data transformation and loading. Power Pivot, on the other hand, is used for data modeling. VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) is a programming language used to automate tasks in Excel.

To understand the differences between Power Query, Power Pivot, and VBA, you can ask GPT for a tabular format of the distinctions. It will provide you with a list of the features and functionalities of each tool.

When it comes to creating charts in Excel, you should consider the purpose of the chart. For comparison, use a column chart. For relationship analysis, use a scatter plot. For distribution, use a histogram. For composition, use a pie chart. And for trend and forecast, use a line chart.

In conclusion, ChatGPT can be a valuable tool for Excel basic users. It can help you with tasks like creating custom lists, understanding the differences between tools, and choosing the right chart type. However, it’s important to be aware of its limitations and use your own judgment when interpreting its responses.

Thank you for watching this video on ChatGPT for Excel basic users. Stay tuned for more videos on how to make the most of this tool!
