Hey there, World Language family! My name is Amanda, but most kids call me Madame Brie. I am excited to share with you how I’m using AI in my classroom. I hope to post a video every day that shows how I’m using different platforms in a unique way. As I discover new ways to use the same platforms, I will explore them in more depth.
One of the AI tools I have been using is ChatGPT. It’s the first AI that I used, and there are so many more available now. Every day, AI technology becomes more advanced, which is incredible for saving time.
In my classroom, I have four different levels of French: French 1, French 2, French 3, and AP French. I use AI to differentiate and scaffold for my students, especially in AP French. I believe in modifying the task, not the text.
I recently posted on our community website on Facebook about marriage trends in Morocco. I used an article from our textbook and inputted it into ChatGPT. I created vocabulary lists, defined religious terms, and generated comprehension questions for different proficiency levels.
It’s important to note that AI is still developing, and as the expert, it’s crucial to check for errors and modify the content to fit specific needs. I shared the prompts and activities I created with my students, and I always review and double-check the results before sharing them.
Using AI in the classroom has been a time-saving and engaging experience for both me and my students. It allows me to provide personalized instruction and support their language learning journey. I look forward to exploring more AI tools and sharing my experiences with you all. Remember, time is our most precious resource as teachers, and AI can help us make the most of it. Have a wonderful day!
