Let’s start by discussing and figuring out the difference between a search engine and conversational AI. These algorithms, such as Google Ward and chart GPT, are essentially conversational AI models that have greatly improved over time. Now, we can interact with AI models as if we are conversing with a human. This is a significant advancement compared to the technology of just five years ago.
A search engine, like Google, primarily focuses on information retrieval. It has a database that indexes various data sources from the internet. When you search for something, the search engine goes through this database and determines the best information to display. It ranks the results based on authority, quality, relevance, and other features.
Conversational AI models, such as chart GPT and Bot, add a layer on top of a search engine. They not only extract relevant information from the database but also extract the most relevant text from the links and provide the answer directly. This saves users from having to go through multiple links to find the answer.
The input and output of search engines and conversational AI differ as well. When using a search engine, we typically enter commands or queries, such as ‘flight tickets from Toronto to Chicago in May’ or ‘best keto diets.’ The search engine provides a list of links for us to explore.
Conversational AI, on the other hand, allows for more specific and personalized queries. For example, if we ask a conversational AI bot about the best keto diet, it will provide us with an exact diet plan based on the data it has been trained on. We can also customize the question by adding information like weight, height, food preferences, and dietary restrictions. The conversational AI will create a customized diet plan based on these requirements.
In terms of output, search engines display multiple links, while conversational AI provides a single answer that it deems most relevant. The level of customization and the ability to provide personalized answers sets conversational AI apart from search engines.
In the next lecture, we will explore both platforms, Bard and chart GPT, and familiarize ourselves with their user interfaces. We will also learn how to effectively use these tools to increase our productivity.
