In this session, we are going to understand the Open AI framework. Open AI consists of many different products, and the most famous one is obviously the ChatGPT. In addition to ChatGPT, Whisper AI and Dali are also interesting products and they are gaining a lot of popularity. These can be called platforms as well. Open AI is basically an artificial intelligence company, more than just a company, it is a research lab. It consists of two entities, one is a for-profit entity and the other is a non-profit entity. The objective of Open AI is to develop and promote AI in a way that benefits the whole of mankind. It was founded in the United States in 2015 by Elon Musk and others. Microsoft has also invested close to a billion dollars in this entity. Many people ask whether ChatGPT has heralded the end of Google. The answer to this question possibly lies in Microsoft’s interest in ChatGPT and the Open AI framework. Now, let’s understand a bit more about these entities in detail.
ChatGPT is a conversational chatbot based on GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer). It was launched as a prototype on November 30, 2022, and has gained more than a million users since then. It can be used for a variety of things, from writing essays and assignments to creating programs and providing insights for composing music.
Whisper AI is about transcription and translation services. It uses natural language to transcribe audio files and translate content in audio files to the language of choice. It supports multiple languages, including Asian and Indian languages.
Dali is about image generation. It generates images based on given phrases. For example, if you give a phrase ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, the AI systems in Dali will generate corresponding images. We will discuss more about Dali in detail.
