Hi and welcome back to my channel where I talk about everything Triathlon and balancing it with having an average everyday job and life. Today, we’re doing something a little different. I asked ChatGPT to write some training for me, and I got the idea to try this after watching a video from Miss Fit and Nerdy on YouTube. She had a video called ‘Personal Trainer Reacts to AI Fitness and Fat Loss Programs,’ where she had GPT write a variety of different fat loss and workout programs. I thought it was really informative, just on the limitations of these AI programs, and I wanted to take that and put it to the test with Triathlon training.
So, I asked ChatGPT to write a Triathlon training plan that covers 16 weeks of training for a Half Ironman at the end of the 12 weeks. I provided some basic parameters of how I like to train and my current baseline. The plan includes three swim, three bike, and three run workouts per week, along with two strength workouts. The long bike workout should be on Saturdays, and the long run should be on Sundays.
However, upon reviewing the plan, I noticed a few issues. The plan didn’t listen to the volume I wanted, and it didn’t take into consideration my current fitness level. The workouts also lacked detail, and the intervals in the run workout were not well-structured. Overall, I don’t think the plan generated by ChatGPT is suitable for my training needs.
In conclusion, while it was fun to see what ChatGPT could come up with, I wouldn’t use it as a training tool. It’s important to have a well-structured and personalized training plan that takes into account your specific goals, fitness level, and preferences. If you’re interested in training for a Half Ironman or any other endurance event, I recommend consulting with a qualified coach or using reputable training programs designed by professionals in the field.
