Can you help me learn to pass my driving test? What’s up with Josh’s driving instructor? Today, I’m going to share another tool we can use to learn to drive. Can AI help us learn to drive? I thought, what’s the best way to do this? Let’s test it.
So, I asked ChatGPT, ‘Can you help me learn to pass my driving test?’ Now, if you don’t know what ChatGPT is, you really need to get out from living under the stairs. ChatGPT is like an artificial intelligence. It’s not true AI, but it’s the closest thing we’ve got. You can have a conversation with it just like a human, anytime you want. Imagine it’s your best friend, who knows everything and can answer any question in the world. It can give you in-depth explanations about quantum mechanics, quantum physics, space-time, anything that anyone has spoken about on the planet. It can create stories, poems, songs, whatever you want. In my opinion, it’s freaking awesome. But can it help us learn to drive? So, I asked it, ‘Can you help me learn to pass my driving test?’ And sure enough, it gave me a huge in-depth list, from how to pass my theory test to helping me with my driving test nerves. The possibilities are endless.
Let’s start at the beginning. Imagine I’m 17 and I’m just planning to do my theory test. I haven’t got a clue where to start, and I haven’t got an abundance of people to ask. So, I asked ChatGPT, ‘How can you help me prepare for my theory test?’ And it came back with a whole list. It can help me learn all the traffic signs in the UK, give me tips on how to do the hazard perception, and provide a list of the most common questions in the theory test. The choices are absolutely endless.
Now, let’s imagine we’re 16. We haven’t got a clue what’s going on, but we know we want to learn to drive. We just don’t know where to start. Or maybe we’re from another country and we’ve come to the UK to get a UK driving license, but our English isn’t great and we need some help. Bingo! I said, ‘ChatGPT, can you talk me through how I apply for a UK driving license?’ And it did not let me down. It came back with a full list of exactly what I needed to do. It even works as a translator, so you can ask it in any language you want, and it will give you the information in that language, specific to the country you’re in. How amazing is that?
Now, let’s jump forward in time. We’re just before our driving test, a couple of days before. Our instructor has forgotten to tell us to revise, and now we’re panicking. What do we do? Hey, ChatGPT, can you give me a list of all the questions on the UK driving test with the perfect answers? And sure enough, it delivered perfect answers. Now, we can create our own special quiz for the UK driving test.
But let’s talk about the limitations of ChatGPT. First and most importantly, ChatGPT is only up to date until the end of 2021. So, if there are any massive changes to the theory test or the driving test after that, it won’t be able to give you the answer. It’s also not contextually aware, meaning it can only work with the information you give it. It’s not a substitute for hands-on experience, and it may not be able to give you specific answers for your car. But despite these limitations, ChatGPT can definitely help us pass our UK driving test in lots of ways.
In conclusion, ChatGPT is an incredibly useful tool for learning to drive. It’s like having your best friend who knows everything and can answer any question. It can help you prepare for your theory test, guide you through the process of getting a UK driving license, provide tips for the driving test, and even give you a list of questions with perfect answers. It’s a no-brainer to use this tool to enhance your learning experience. Just remember to be specific in your prompts and make the most of this powerful resource.
