We are going to start off with the very first important slide and I want to share with you about the beginning of ChatGPT. This is really fundamental. Now, I’m going to help you navigate a few places starting from here. Why all the craze about artificial intelligence, especially the craze about ChatGPT? Because this is a mind-boggling technology that sets the record for the fastest growing user base. We are really only interested in the fastest thing out there, and this product has really captured the imagination of everyone globally.
Now, how fast is fast? Let’s come back over here. GPT itself is estimated to reach 100 million monthly active users in January this year. That’s why the timing is so important. In fact, it is the fastest growing consumer application in history. Now, how fast is that? Check out over here. It took TikTok about nine months after its global launch to reach 100 million users. Instagram took two and a half years, according to data from Sensor Tower. So, you can see this unique phenomenon. The speed. Everyone is working towards what I call the time squeeze. Things become faster and faster and more efficient. Likewise, for an application to grow to 100 million users, boom, in two months’ time, this is a major record. That’s why we need to spend time to understand what is ChatGPT.
So, right on the top, right up there, here we go. In 20 years following the internet space, we cannot recall a faster ramp in consumer internet application. And I put the picture of two very important persons right here. On the left is the founder of OpenAI, and on the right is the man who funded the founder. How many of you realize by now you may have the best ideas out there, but if you are not funded with the money to kind of launch your idea, it is just a figure of your imagination.
Now, I’m in the space of what we call fintech, financial technology. I’m very used to raising money for different projects, and I know there are many startup founders out there good with the ideas but very poor at raising the money. That’s the reason why their dreams don’t come true. So, I’m going to put back again this picture to help you understand. OpenAI or, for the sake of ChatGPT, will never come true if Elon Musk didn’t put money into the startup. That’s the reason why I always give credit to Elon Musk, the real visionary of our time who can look so far ahead. He knows where to put the money.
