When we tested it with a simple request to find the most affordable tropical vacation destinations, it showed us browsing starting up. This indicates that it actually browses the web to generate the result. However, in some cases, the browsing section may not show up, and it becomes difficult to determine if the answer is generated by browsing the web or not. It is important for users to pay attention to what’s happening and not solely rely on the answer.
The second limitation is that ChatGPT only uses one source to generate the answer. When executing the same request, you may notice that it only clicks one link. While it provides an answer, it only shows the link to one source website. Relying on one website for answering questions is not ideal, as the details could be wrong. ChatGPT chooses the first website in search results that closely matches the request. Although it’s not ideal, it is a fair criteria for selection. It is worth noting that ChatGPT uses Bing for these searches.
Another limitation is the restriction imposed by websites. Many popular websites have decided to block access to OpenAI bots, including ChatGPT. For example, when asked for bestselling biography books on Amazon, ChatGPT mentions that it can’t provide real-time data due to restrictions on accessing Amazon’s website. This limitation can affect the usability of the feature, especially if more sites start blocking the GPT bot.
In conclusion, the ChatGPT Browse with Bing feature has its limitations. The unpredictability in search, reliance on one source, and restrictions imposed by websites can make it challenging to use.
