The Importance of Email Marketing for Entrepreneurs

The Importance of Email Marketing for Entrepreneurs

Oh gosh, emails. And then a series of emails. My brain just starts screaming at me, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. But they are just as important to nurture your subscribers as an entrepreneur. If you are in that space and if you want to monetize what you love doing, why not make the process a little less painful? If you’ve got the marketing woes, save that for my marketing class. Because for now, we’re just going to get dirty in the details. Just remember, as far as marketing goes, it’s not icky. Just think of it like you’re sharing your excitement about the offer you created. You created that with pride. You feel confident in it. You know that not only will people resonate and like it, but it will serve a specific purpose for them. And that’s exciting. It’s not slimy, it’s not salesy. Okay, pep talk, let’s continue.

There are two reminders as we jump in. The first is that just like any other content that you would want AI to help you with, it’s very important to have a clear understanding of your goal and target audience. What are you trying to achieve with your email funnels and who are you trying to reach? So this is going to help guide the content and structure of your funnels. You want to make sure to use descriptive language. AI can generate high-quality email copy, but it is important to provide that quality information so it can best do its job. And then, my echo is coming back in here to encourage you to use the output of AI as a guide, as a tool to optimize your workflow, as a way to get the bulk work out of the way so that you can then come in and fine-tune things to really make it yours and your voice. Okay, so maybe you have no idea where to start or what you might even provide to even grow your list. This is awesome. Enter the ultimate idea generator.

Let’s say you are a modern rug tufter and you want people to sign up for your email list. So your first input might be, ‘I am a modern rug tufter specializing in bright retro colors and nostalgic designs. I want to build my email list.’ Or you could even say, ‘You are an expert copywriter and your client is a modern rug tufter.’ Different ways to phrase this, right? And we talked about phrasing prompts in a little bit of a different way each time to see output, if it makes a difference, how it makes a difference. What are 15 ideal call-to-action ideas of freebies that I could provide? So this is an email list building idea generator.

Once you’ve built that solid lead magnet, we can then go into the automated process of email funnels. In a nutshell, the idea of their design is to guide new subscribers through a nurturing process. Now, this is a good thing because it means that you’re not just screaming by this as soon as they sign up. Instead, you’re offering them loads of value. You are getting to show them that you appreciate them being in your little corner of the internet. You’re letting them get their hands on what you provide so that they feel more confident in sticking around. So each email in a funnel can have a specific goal, whether that’s to educate the reader, connect by sharing a memorable story, or eventually invite them to purchase your offer.

But I want to help you expedite the process of creating email funnels when using AI. So you can provide specific prompts and details and generate high-quality email copy based on your brand’s tone and your style. That’s going to save time. It’s going to ensure that your email funnels are consistent and in line with your voice. Let’s look at some example scenarios.

The first one will be to simply inquire about the ideal email funnel for your industry. So this gives you a good starting point. If we use that previous example, you could input, ‘I’m a rug tufter specializing in one-of-a-kind designs that I sell to consumers. I also license patterns to companies for production, and I’d like to build a quality email funnel to keep subscribers engaged. Curate an example of the ideal email funnel for me.’ So this prompt is focusing on selling your pieces in a non-pushy way.

Now, let’s say you have a lead magnet related to a tutorial or a class that you offer on the art of rug tufting. That email funnel would look a lot different because it’s instructional, it’s educational. So you could specify the details of your input as, ‘I’m a modern rug tufter known for my bright and unusual design choices. I want to grow my email list by offering educational content. The first email should deliver the lead magnet I offered, a guide to jumpstart rug tufting with these three secrets. I want the funnel to eventually lead people to my online program, the ultimate rug tufting school. Create an email funnel that includes five emails that will be delivered within two weeks of signing up.’

Okay, we have an amazing skeleton now that we can tweak. This saved us a lot of time. And here’s what I find so helpful about this particular output by the AI. You’ll notice that because we specified that it should deliver five emails within two weeks, it automatically spaced out these days according to the best practices for ideal reach. So that means that you’ll be delivering value in a time frame that isn’t annoying and it’s not clogging somebody’s inbox.

The next thing I like about the way that we input this prompt was so that the AI could build the funnel but not necessarily speak for us. So looking at the first email it generated, we’ve got customizable areas that we can edit and of course, we can tweak the text in our own words. And then it’s also got a hook to tell people to keep an eye out for more from you. And that’s something that you might have forgotten to do in your own copy because when our own eyes are on it so much, we can forget these details. And that reminder is getting people excited. That reminder might be the one thing that people are like, ‘Oh, you know, I’m gonna remember to check this. I have something else that’s coming that I’m really interested in.’

And then this second email, it gives you a tangible example that is related to your industry. You can run with this, or it might spark a different idea. So maybe you don’t use this email, it might give you an idea of what to do instead. But in either case, the email itself is formatted and ready for you to capture your reader’s attention with that skeleton in place, with that structure in place. And I really like that the opening line is a reminder of the value that you already sent, but I would change the language so it sounds more like me. And then once again, this email ends with a hook to keep people ready for what’s next.

This third email kicks off with another way to remind people of the value that you have provided already, along with even more goodness. And then at the end, it has a soft, non-pressurely organic introduction to your course. By now, you have given three quality pieces of valuable content, and now is a great time to introduce people to their next steps.

And I personally love that AI already understands the formatting so that you don’t have to put yourself through the pressure and the process of like, ‘Well, when’s the right time to mention my course? Or how do I set this up without feeling like I’m blowing people’s inboxes up?’ You know what I mean?

So, I think you get the idea by now. I want you to feel empowered to prompt AI to format all kinds of emails. Think about the reasons that we send both standalone emails and why we set up automated funnels. Here’s an at-a-glance list of all the different types of emails and email funnels that you can use AI for to help expedite that workflow. And you can do that on your own time. And don’t worry about writing all these down really fast because these lists, along with a plethora of customizable done-for-you prompts, are available in your Tech Vault. And I can’t wait for you to dive into those.

But now that your email game just went from ‘No, I don’t want to’ to strong and mighty, take a moment to digest all of this information. And your assignment for this section is to do one of two things. If you already have a lead magnet in place, I want you to use the prompt from this lesson to generate a general email funnel and come up with either a call-to-action or a deliverable or something along those lines that is unique to you. And if you don’t have a lead magnet yet, I want you to use the prompts to generate ideas of what you can provide that are specific to you. And I want you to take a screenshot and share that, share your prompt and share your results, and then make any mentions of any tweaks that you made along the way in order for it to better suit you.

Alright, that being said, in our next lesson, we will take a look at how AI can assist in our research efforts. This one I love. I’ll see you soon.
