The Benefits of Prepping vs Prompting in Content Creation

The Benefits of Prepping vs Prompting in Content Creation

Sometimes as YouTubers, we get so bogged down in searching for new and improved methods that we forget the effectiveness of older techniques. In this video, I want to revisit a method I discussed back in February called prepping. I personally believe that prepping is a much better approach compared to using long prompts.

Prepping involves giving a first prompt and then continuing to prompt until you reach the point where you instruct the AI to perform the desired task. On the other hand, prompting relies on a single, often complex, prompt to guide the AI’s response.

While it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly why prepping seems to work better, there are a few theories. One theory suggests that the AI performs better when it understands the task at hand, and long prompts can often confuse it. Another theory proposes that search engines like Google may somehow recognize content generated with a single prompt and rank it lower.

In my experience, content created using prepping has ranked better on Google compared to content created using long prompts. Additionally, I’ve observed that GPT 3.5 performs exceptionally well when using the prepping method.

To create content using prepping, it’s important to break down the task into smaller parts and avoid lengthy and complicated prompts. By doing so, the AI can better understand the task and produce higher-quality output. It’s also recommended to include markdown formatting, such as lists and tables, to improve readability and increase ranking potential.

When using prepping, it’s beneficial to include internal links within the article. Internal links help search engines understand the structure of your content and improve overall ranking. To add internal links, you can either manually include them or ask the AI to generate an outline and then add the links yourself.

In conclusion, prepping is a powerful method for content creation that can lead to better rankings on search engines like Google. By breaking down the task, using clear prompts, and including internal links, you can create high-quality content that resonates with both readers and search engines.
