The Basics of Prompt Engineering and ChatGPT

Hey guys, welcome to our first module of the Prompt Engineering course. In this video, we’ll be discussing the basics of prompt engineering and chatGPT.

Prompt engineering is the practice of designing precise prompts, queries, or instructions to guide machine learning models. It involves integrating desired outputs and refining prompts to shape the model’s behavior for specific tasks.

ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is a language model based on the GPT architecture. It is designed to engage in conversational interactions and generate human-like responses to prompts. It has been trained on a diverse range of internet text to provide contextually relevant information.

To use ChatGPT, you can go to the OpenAI website and sign up for an account. Once you’re logged in, you can start using ChatGPT to generate responses to prompts.

When using prompt engineering, it’s important to focus on your topic and be familiar with it. This will help you provide more accurate prompts and understand the output generated by ChatGPT. Avoid making assumptions and validate the output from reliable sources.

Start with simple prompts and gradually add more details to get the desired output. You can use modifiers like adjectives, adverbs, intensifiers, negatives, and degree words to refine your prompts.

Remember to practice and improve your prompt engineering skills. The more you practice, the better you’ll become at generating accurate and relevant outputs.

In the next module, we’ll discuss different types of prompt engineering. Stay tuned!

Take care and see you in the next video!
