Simplifying PDF Data Extraction and Analysis with PDF.co and Zapier

Hello and welcome to PDF.co. In today’s video, we will be demonstrating how to simplify PDF data extraction, analysis, and insights using chatGPT in Zapier.

With PDF.co and Zapier, you can easily extract data from PDFs and use chatGPT to analyze the data and gain valuable insights. We’ve provided a link to the full tutorial in the description box below. For more additional information, please visit PDF.co.

We will be using a sample PDF invoice to demonstrate how to extract data, analyze it, and generate valuable insights.

So without any delay, let’s begin. First, log into your Zapier account and click on the ‘Create a Zap’ button. Next, search and select the Google Drive app. You can also use different cloud storage services to get the source files.

Choose the ‘New File and Folder’ option to trigger when a new file is directly added to a folder. Then, connect your Google Drive account to Zapier to authorize access to your files.

Now, to set up the trigger, begin by selecting ‘My Google Drive’ as the drive to be used. Next, specify the exact folder where the file is located. Once the trigger has been set up, it’s important to test it to ensure that the file can be successfully fetched from Google Drive.

The test trigger was successful, and the file was fetched from Google Drive. Now, let’s add another application and extract the data from the PDF document.

In this step, we will add the PDF.co app and select the ‘PDF to Anything Converter’ option to extract PDF documents in any output format of your choice. Connect your PDF.co account to Zapier by adding the API key (obtained from your PDF.co dashboard).

Proceed to set up the PDF.co configuration. Start by selecting the desired output format for the extracted data. Next, choose the ‘Web Content Link’ option from your Google Drive account. Then, specify the pages or ranges you want to process. Finally, enter a specific name for the output file.

Once the configuration has been set up, it’s important to test the action to ensure that the data is successfully extracted from the PDF document. The data was successfully extracted from the PDF document.

To view the output, copy the URL and paste it into your web browser. We have successfully extracted the data from the PDF document in plain text format.

To proceed with the analysis and generate insights with ChatGPT, we’ll need to copy the text content. In this step, let’s proceed to add the ChatGPT app and select the ‘Conversation’ option to send a message to OpenAI and receive a completion.

Connect your ChatGPT account to Zapier to authorize access and generate a completion to OpenAI. Set up the ChatGPT configuration by inputting the text command along with the text content to analyze the extracted data and generate insights.

Next, configure the parameter values for username, assistant name, instructions, and model. For this demo, we will use the default values. Lastly, enter a unique value to enable the assistant to continue the conversation from the previous messages.

Now that the ChatGPT configuration has been set up, it’s important to test the action to send a request to ChatGPT and analyze the data to generate insights. ChatGPT has successfully analyzed the extracted data and generated valuable insights.
