Let’s walk you through our redesign of the chat app, GPT Chat. GPT Chat has gained immense popularity in the past year, especially among college students. To better understand the user experience, we conducted a survey among past and current students aged 18 to 34. We asked them about their usage patterns, the user-friendliness of the interface, the accuracy of the app, and their overall satisfaction.
Based on the feedback, we identified common issues and features that could enhance the user experience. Our main goal is to implement chat bubbles, which will make conversations flow more naturally and improve user-friendliness.
Currently, the chat layout displays messages in a straightforward vertical list, making it difficult to differentiate between chatbot and user messages. By introducing chat bubbles, we aim to address this challenge and provide a more intuitive interface.
In our redesign, we have introduced two unique modes: casual and academic. The casual mode features a vibrant and youthful design, with bright and lively colors that reflect a sense of energy. The interface has been simplified for easier navigation, and chat bubbles have been added to improve visual clarity and engagement.
In the academic mode, our focus was on providing a conducive environment for academic-related tasks. The interface uses a different color scheme, ideal for extended usage without causing eye strain. We have also introduced new features to promote academic integrity, such as citation preferences and translation options. Users can easily reference and cite sources within the app, with support for APA and MLA formats. Additionally, the translation feature allows users to switch between languages, aiding international students and researchers in understanding content.
We believe that this redesign is a significant step in improving the relationship between AI and academics. By appealing to students who value efficiency and honesty in their work, we aim to enhance the overall user experience. Thank you for your time and consideration.
