OpenAI has launched the corporate version of ChatGPT with added features and privacy safeguards. This move is the startup’s most significant effort yet to attract a broad mix of business customers and boost revenue.
Similar to the consumer versions of the company’s artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, users can type in a prompt and receive a written response from ChatGPT Enterprise. The new tool includes unlimited use of OpenAI’s most powerful generative AI model, GPT4, as well as data encryption and a guarantee that the startup won’t use data from customers to develop its technology.
The rollout of ChatGPT Enterprise is part of OpenAI’s plans to monetize its popular chatbot, which is widely used but expensive to operate due to the resource-intensive AI models it requires. OpenAI has already taken steps towards generating revenue from ChatGPT, such as selling a premium subscription and offering companies paid access to its application programming interface (API) to integrate the chatbot into other apps.
The cost of ChatGPT Enterprise can vary based on the needs of each business. OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, Brad Lightcap, stated that the company is willing to work with customers to determine the best plan for them.
Existing users of ChatGPT Enterprise include companies like BD, Canva, and automation platforms. These early customers are utilizing the chatbot for tasks such as coding, creative work, and answering business questions.
OpenAI has made efforts to address concerns about the security and privacy of company and customer data. The startup does not train its AI models on data from companies using ChatGPT Enterprise, unless users opt to share their data. OpenAI’s models are trained on written prompts from users and personally identifiable information is filtered out.
The corporate version of ChatGPT, GPT4, is designed to be more reliable and less prone to fabricating results compared to previous models. OpenAI aims to provide the highest quality model for consumers, enterprises, and developers using its API.
