If you haven’t been living under a rock, you have definitely heard of ChatGPT. The latest news just came out saying that its version, AKA ChatGPT War, has been released to software developers. It’s kind of interesting because it is like 100 times more powerful than the OG ChatGPT, though you do need to pay $20 a month or so in order to use ChatGPT.
With the AI rising, we all need to know how to use it properly. So today, I will try to break down different ways and methods on how to learn any skill with ChatGPT, whether it’s Python programming, photography, video editing, creating a study schedule, or even making money with it, just like how other people are doing.
Let me emphasize that learning with ChatGPT is not about replacing traditional learning resources. It’s about leveraging its guidance to enhance your learning experience.
There are five main parts in this video, so stay tuned to find out every single detail.
The first step is to identify the skill you want to learn. If you don’t know what to ask, you can ask the AI to give you something to ask. Type in ‘Can you recommend me a skill that is easy to learn and is useful?’ Let’s say you’re interested in Python programming with ChatGPT. You can get started easily, even if you have no prior experience. I’m going to use Python as an example throughout this video.
Get resources. Let’s talk about asking for resources. I’m going to say, ‘I’m new to Python programming. Can you recommend any online resources or tutorials to learn Python?’ It suggests checking out websites like Codecademy, Coursera, and FreeCodeCamp, which offer interactive Python courses for beginners. These platforms provide step-by-step lessons and hands-on exercises to help you grasp Python’s concepts. Let’s take ChatGPT’s advice and search for Python tutorials on Codecademy. Look at that, Codecademy offers a variety of Python courses, some of which are even free. Basically, these courses are designed to be beginner-friendly and will guide you through the fundamentals of Python programming. I’ve selected a beginner Python course recommended by ChatGPT that covers the basics we discussed earlier. This course includes interactive exercises and projects to help you apply what you learn.
Visualization exercises. Now, I want some visuals to help me learn other topics. I’m going to say, ‘Can you provide me with types of visualization exercises for learning biological data?’ It is recommending me to use scatter plots, heat maps, box plots, network diagrams, Venn diagrams, circular plots, and a bunch of other fun stuff that I’ve never heard of before. So, it is helpful because now I can Google these and they’ll make my learning experience much smoother. Visualization allows you to gain a better understanding of your data by transforming it into visual representations that are easier to comprehend. It helps you identify patterns, trends, and outliers that may not be apparent in raw data or tables. These exercises can help identify errors or inconsistencies in data. Unusual patterns or outliers in visual representations may indicate data quality issues, such as measurement errors or data entry mistakes. So, that’s why it’s important that you ask for visualization techniques when learning a skill.
Take notes. This step is simple. Get up, take out a paper or a book, and start making notes. Unless you’re some type of genius, you won’t remember everything that ChatGPT recommends or says. I myself am a person that tends to forget stuff easily. If you don’t like writing, open up a Google Doc and start typing stuff that you’ve learned. This step is important if you don’t want to forget everything that you’ve learned.
Test yourself. Just like I mentioned before, it’s common for people like you and me to forget stuff easily. So, test yourself by making ChatGPT create questions for you. I will choose chess as a skill here. Okay, can you help me create a simple quiz on chess basic rules so that I can test myself? Wow, it gave me a ton of multiple-choice questions and it provided answers too. Oh my God, that’s so good. Another cool thing is that you can type in a long paragraph and ask ChatGPT to create questions based on it. So yeah, it can make a bunch of fun stuff. Testing yourself helps reinforce your learning and aids in the long-term retention of information. When you actively recall and retrieve information from memory, it strengthens the neural connections associated with that knowledge, making it easier for you to recall stuff in the future. It’s important to note that effective testing involves using appropriate and meaningful questions or tasks that align with your learning objectives.
And that’s a wrap! That was the AI recipe that not everyone is making use of.
