Hello and welcome back to Web Cafe AI, where we show you how to leverage artificial intelligence in your personal and business life. In this video, we’re going to be showing you how to connect a database to your Chat GBT account.
Now, specifically, the way we’re going to show you this is going to be kind of a workaround. I was talking with one of my fellow colleagues, and we came up with this idea, and this could be applied to a lot of different contexts. But in this specific context, we’re going to show you how to write a book with it.
Another context you could use this method for is coding an app or coding a website. I mean, this can be very powerful stuff. Essentially, the idea here is we’re going to be able to take a chat, we’re going to take all the data within that chat, we’re going to export it as a PDF, and then use that PDF as a brain for another chat to be used.
Let’s go ahead and jump into this tutorial. The two plugins we’re going to need for this tutorial are PDF Creator and Ask Your PDF. For this first chat, we’re going to actually just create the data that we’ll use in future chats. So, I’m going to go ahead and untick Ask Your PDF. We’re going to go ahead and just stay with PDF Creator here, and let’s go ahead and begin.
So, we’re going to go ahead and just create a story that has three chapters. Let’s say create an outline for a story that has three chapters. So, we got an outline for this fake story. Here, we’re going to go ahead and ask Chat GBT to create the chapters for each one. Let’s go ahead and create Chapter One and let’s go ahead and get the entire chapter here.
In the context that you’re dealing with code here, this could be very valuable as you could associate file names and the code associated with that file name within a Chat GBT chat, and then you could use this PDF for future chats.
So, we got Chapter One. Generate Chapter Two. Generate Chapter Three. All right, so we got all three chapters generated here. Let’s go ahead and do Stage One of this video. We’re going to go ahead and say, ‘Okay, let’s generate all these chapters into a PDF.’
All right, so here we go. We can download the PDF. We’re going to click that link here. It’s going to show up here, and as you see here, look how it even formats it. That’s pretty cool. It has the title of the book, Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three. Let’s go ahead and download the PDF.
Now that we’ve downloaded the PDF, we’re going to have to create a Google Drive folder and make sure it’s accessible to the public. The way we do that essentially is we’re going to go to our Drive folder here. We’re going to say ‘Share’ and then make sure that we see that green little access button that says ‘Anyone with the link can see it’. Once we do that, we can hit ‘Done’.
Now that we have it accessible and anyone with the link can see it, this is going to allow Chat GBT’s API with the plugin to access it. We went ahead and uploaded it, as you see here. It is currently right here. We have our story here. So, what we can do is go ahead and hit these three ellipses. We’re going to hit ‘Copy link’. So, this is where it gets really cool. Now, as I said before, this can be used in a ton of different contexts, but essentially the idea is this: a lot of the times when you’re talking to Chat GBT, there are going to be specific data points that are outputted that could be really pertinent or relevant for future chats that you may have for a really big project you’re currently working on.
So, in this context, we just want to show you in building out a book. So, what we need to do now essentially is go to our plugins here. We’re going to go to Ask Your PDF. We copy that link. We’re going to go ahead and say, ‘Read all of this book’ and just provide the link. Let’s just first establish that it can connect. We’re going to see that green little box here, and then let’s establish that this API can understand what’s in the link.
All right, perfect. So, as you see, the Google Drive trick worked, and we’re able to access this PDF. Just so you have reference on how to talk to a PDF, let’s just ask for the chapters in the PDF. We’re going to say, ‘What are the chapter titles in the PDF?’ and then they should just list out the three chapter titles.
All right, so as you see here, we got the three chapters associated with the PDF. And here is where the magic works. Essentially, now what we can do is we can reference this data found within the PDF for any future conversations within this chat. We can also create new chats with this data and really optimize our time here.
So, for example, let’s say I wanted to reference the first book here and create a second book. What we can do essentially is this: based on the first book you found in the PDF, let’s create a second book. Please provide an outline. Additionally, I could have added more chapters within that PDF, but for now, as you see here, based on the context of the first book, it’s going to be able to start generating a second book and it’s going to provide an outline for us to use.
Now, from here, we can go ahead and proceed and continue our process of creating this book. This is just a quick example, really showing you the capabilities of passing data between Chat GBT chats. I thought this was pretty cool and pretty nifty due to the fact that, you know, sometimes when you’re in a new Chat GBT chat, you don’t necessarily want to keep using the same one because that one has the context, but you want to give that context to another one and start on a clean slate.
Using this trick, we’re now effectively able to do this and save a lot of time for specific things we’re trying to achieve within each chat.
