Flight Deck works by allowing users to easily connect UE5 to other external platforms and APIs. No custom code, no blueprints, no HTTP calls. It just works. Think of Flight Deck as an International Airport that connects people to different countries around the world, all from one central hub.
In this early beta version, we use Cesium and Google Maps to show off what’s possible. Everything from location scouting, drone flyovers, title sequences, motion graphics, and previz are now possible with just a simple prompt.
Let’s dive in and see how Flight Deck actually works. By connecting Cesium, Google Maps, and UE5, it allows users to generate any place in the world in just a few seconds. No more manual inputting of coordinates or switching between different platforms. Flight Deck makes it super easy.
For example, if you want to go to the location where the first Olympics took place, simply enter the prompt and Flight Deck will take you there. You can even adjust the lighting and time of day with a simple prompt.
Flight Deck is not limited to exact coordinates or names. It can find places based on pop culture references, nicknames for cities, or historical events. For example, you can ask Flight Deck to take you to the place where JFK was assassinated, and it will take you to Dallas, Texas.
Flight Deck also allows you to control the engine and set up cameras and lighting directly within the interface. No need to switch to Unreal Engine manually. It’s all in one place.
