Increasing Productivity and Code Efficiency with ChatGPT

Hello, my name is Casper and welcome to my YouTube channel. In today’s video, I will show you how to use ChatGPT and other tools to increase your productivity and code efficiency. After this tutorial, you will also know how to do prompt engineering and structure basic problem questions for ChatGPT.

Let’s start with something special for Mac OS users. You have an application called Shortcuts, which allows you to create keyboard shortcuts for various tasks. I have shared two macros in the description below that open ChatGPT and Playground with just a keyboard shortcut. This way, you can quickly access these tools.

In this tutorial, I will cover some tools to increase your productivity in using ChatGPT. Two of my favorite apps are Paste and Text Expander. Paste is an app that allows you to store and quickly access text snippets. Text Expander is an app that lets you create shortcuts for frequently used text snippets.

Let’s cover some example setups for these two tools. I will start with Paste. I can navigate to the prompts I want to explain and copy the text. Then, using the Paste app, I can easily access my clipboard history and paste the desired prompt. This saves time and allows me to quickly access and explain different prompts.

Next, let’s talk about Text Expander. This app allows you to create text snippets with shortcuts. For example, I can create a snippet with the shortcut ‘zit’ that expands to ‘job Airline job is to’. This makes it easy to access and use different prompts without typing them out every time.

Now, let’s dive into the topic of how to ask questions to ChatGPT. One method is the chain of thought. Instead of asking a single question, you can break it down into multiple steps. For example, if ChatGPT is struggling to answer a math problem, you can provide additional steps to guide it towards the correct answer.

Another method is the zero-shot approach. Instead of providing a specific prompt, you can ask ChatGPT to perform a task without explicitly mentioning it. This allows ChatGPT to use its knowledge and reasoning abilities to come up with the desired response.

Reflection is another useful method. After receiving a response from ChatGPT, you can ask if it is sure about its answer. This helps in verifying the accuracy of the response and can be particularly useful when dealing with complex prompts.

Advanced prompt engineering involves creating prompts with specific instructions, context, summary, and question. This method allows you to provide detailed instructions to ChatGPT and get accurate and relevant responses.

Reward engineering is another technique where you act as a prompt engineer and keep asking questions until you are satisfied with the prompt. This helps in refining and improving the prompts to get the desired output.

In conclusion, using tools like ChatGPT, Paste, and Text Expander can greatly increase your productivity and code efficiency. By implementing various prompt engineering techniques, you can optimize the performance of ChatGPT and get accurate and relevant responses. Remember to use formal language and follow best practices when creating prompts. Thank you for watching, and I hope you find these tips helpful in your coding journey!
