Do you ever feel like Chad GPT just doesn’t understand you? Well, today is your lucky day because this video will help elevate your prompting game forever. Last time on Silicon Mind, we discussed two techniques that can make your conversation more direct and relevant to your needs: priming and role assignment. Today, we will learn how to use these techniques within one of Chad GPT’s new features called custom instructions.
To access custom instructions, click the three-dot button at the bottom left-hand corner of the GPT interface, next to your username. Then, click on ‘custom instructions’ in the popup that appears. You will see two boxes where you can answer two questions: what you would like Chad GPT to know about you and how you would like Chad GPT to respond.
In the first box, you can provide information about yourself to establish context for the conversation. You can mention your background, interests, learning style, and goals. For example, if you’re a university student or a software engineer, you can mention that. If you’re into music or art, feel free to mention that as well, as it can help guide the conversation.
In the second box, you can specify how you want Chad GPT to respond. This is where you can apply the techniques of priming and role assignment. You can define the tone of the conversation, the level of creativity, the format of the response, and the technicality level. For example, if you want a casual tone, high creativity, and layman’s terms explanations, you can specify that.
By using custom instructions, you save time and effort in setting up the conversation each time. Chad GPT will automatically pull in the information from the custom instructions and tailor its responses accordingly. However, if you prefer the default version of Chad GPT, you can easily switch back.
To illustrate the difference, let’s look at an example. In the custom instructions, we set the role as an experienced music teacher and asked Chad GPT to teach us how to play the guitar. The response we received was friendly, motivational, and provided step-by-step guidance on learning the guitar. On the other hand, when we didn’t use custom instructions, the response was more dry and lacked the personal touch of a human conversation.
In conclusion, custom instructions in Chad GPT allow you to tailor your conversations and enhance your learning experience. Whether you’re learning to play an instrument or discussing any other topic, custom instructions can make the conversation more engaging and personalized. Give it a try and see the difference it makes!
