How to Use ChatGPT to Write a CV

Foreign

Here I would like to show you how you can use ChatGPT to write a CV. Now, we are not going to spend our time focusing on all aspects of a CV, but rather the ones that can be helped by getting input from ChatGPT, which would include the summary as well as the experience section.

In this scenario, we are pretending that we are looking for our first job in software testing, and that we have past experience in other industries, such as being a waitress at different restaurants and working in retail.

Now, let’s see what ChatGPT comes up with. I think this is a good start, but one thing I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t quite highlight enough what I bring to the table uniquely given my past experience as a waitress and having worked in retail. So, I’m going to try again and give ChatGPT more specific directions to expand and explain how my experience would enable me to be a great software tester.

Moving on to the experience section of the CV, I want to try and get ChatGPT to write the experience section using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). I am defining the tasks that I did at the restaurant and asking ChatGPT to write about the situation, task, action, and result in two concise bullet points.

After reviewing the response from ChatGPT, I realized that it is not structured the way I want it to be. It is broken down into separate bullet points for each part of the STAR method. I want the bullet points to be short and concise, so I’m going to try again with my prompt and ask ChatGPT to combine the situation, task, action, and result into two bullet points.

Unfortunately, I am still not satisfied with the response from ChatGPT. It is not concise and does not follow the structure I want. However, I do find value in the results mentioned, as it shows how my experience as a waitress and in retail can contribute to customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Now, I’m going to use a tool called RezuMaker.ai to create my CV. I enter my desired job title as a software tester and fill out the necessary fields. In the summary section, I copy and paste the response from ChatGPT, but I break it up into smaller paragraphs to make it more readable.

Next, I fill out the work experience section, using the response from ChatGPT as a starting point. I edit the text to make it more concise and focus on the value I added to the business. I also skip the education section for this scenario and move on to the skills section, where I add relevant skills such as communication, problem-solving, and customer service.

Finally, I review the CV and make any necessary edits. I am happy with the final result and ready to submit my CV for job applications.

Please note that the tool I used, RezuMaker.ai, is a paid tool, but there are other options such as using Word or Canva to create your CV.

In conclusion, using ChatGPT to write a CV can be a helpful tool, especially when it comes to crafting a compelling summary and experience section. By providing clear directions and editing the responses, you can create a professional CV that highlights your skills and experience in a concise and effective manner.
