First, let’s go into ChatGPT and ask a simple question: What items are good for drop shipping? However, the generic information it gave us is not helpful because we’re simply relisting items onto Facebook Marketplace for now.
So, I asked something more specific: Can you give me examples of items I should try to drop ship? Now, I have a wide range of options, from phone cases and phone grips to wall art and pet beds, and even camping cookware, hammocks, earbuds, and sunglasses. This is a great way to find ideas when you’re unsure what to look up.
Let’s choose phone cases as an example. We can go to Amazon and search for ‘phone case’. There are many options to choose from, but I prefer sorting by best sellers because it indicates that these items sell well. Even if we have to mark them up to make money, it’s worth it. I found two different phone cases, one for the 6.1 inch and one for the 6.7 inch.
Before uploading the item, it’s important to ensure it’s a viable product. We can copy the item details and search for it on eBay. If we see that it’s being sold for a certain price, we can calculate a minimum price by multiplying it by 1.2 or 1.3. We also want to filter for drop shippers by selecting ‘Buy It Now’ and setting the condition to new. This way, we can find items that are suitable for drop shipping.
To make the process even easier, we can use the FBM Fox extension. By using the research function, we can set the maximum number of competitors to 15 and the minimum sales to four. This helps us find viable products that have a good chance of selling. The extension will highlight the items that meet these criteria, making it easier for us to identify profitable products.
Once we find a product that meets our criteria, we can list it on eBay. It’s important to set a competitive price, considering the market value and potential profit margin. We can always adjust the price later based on sales performance. It’s recommended to start with a lower price and gradually increase it if the item sells well.
When listing the item, we need to select the appropriate category, ensure free shipping is available, and use our own shipping label. Offering free shipping to buyers is a good practice, as it attracts more customers. We can also hide the listing from friends to maintain privacy.
After listing the item, we can monitor its performance and make adjustments as necessary. If the item sells frequently, we can consider increasing the price. On the other hand, if it doesn’t sell well, we may need to lower the price or find alternative strategies.
