How to Specify the Steps Required to Complete a Task

In this series, you are going to learn about Chad GBT Prompt Engineer and how it can help you write effective and useful prompts. This is Part 6 of the series. As a quick introduction, throughout this series, we will cover the following topics: guiding chat, iterative prompt development, inferring and summarizing text, transforming text, expanding text, and creating your own chatbot.

In today’s video, we will specifically focus on how to guide Chat GBT to think. We will learn two key principles of prompting and how to apply them using Tragedy VT. This section will be broken down into multiple videos.

Principle 2 is to give the model time to think. In today’s video, we will cover the step of specifying the steps required to complete a task. This means that when you have a piece of text, such as a cooking recipe, you can ask Chat GBT to specify the steps in order to complete the task.

To demonstrate this, we will use two pieces of text. The first one is a paragraph about making a cup of tea. We will ask Chat GBT to extract the steps from the paragraph. The second paragraph is just random text about a beautiful day. We will see if Chat GBT recognizes any steps in that text.

In the first paragraph, Chat GBT successfully recognizes the steps required to make a cup of tea. It provides a requested format with step numbers and the corresponding steps.

In the second paragraph, Chat GBT correctly identifies that no steps are provided.

This concludes the lesson on specifying the steps required to complete a task. In the next video, you will learn how to instruct Chat GBT to work out its own solution before rushing into any conclusions.
