I’ve had a ton of people request an update to this video where I attempted to earn one thousand four hundred forty-five dollars per day for free using Chechbt in Canva. So in this video, I’m going to explain the process that I followed, how much money I made, and if this is worth your time. A few months ago, I created a video where I said I’m going to try this method. This method seems really simple, really easy, and it could be a very good way to earn passive income. In the original video by Wholesale Ted, she mentions that you simply could make money by putting funny or quirky quotes on candles and sell them. In her video, she focused on teachers, and so I kind of wanted to do the same thing. Now, when I looked at her video, her video had over a hundred thousand views, so I didn’t want to just make the same thing in my video. I decided to focus on mugs.
So let’s go ahead and jump right into my computer, and I’m going to show you what I did step by step and how much money I made. What I did is I tried to think of different holidays that were coming up. I tried to think of different groups of people that would be interested in having a coffee mug. In her video, she did candles. I want to do coffee mugs because I want to be different than everybody else. Now, what came to mind at that time was Father’s Day because this was just before Father’s Day and Fourth of July. So I created, I think, maybe 10 to 15 different mugs simply in those two niches. And then, in addition, I also decided to do quirky mugs focusing on the office, so like if you work a full-time job in a corporate world and on parents.
So what I did is I came over to Channel PT, and I just typed in quirky phrases to place on a coffee mug. And as you can see, it comes up with 20 ideas relatively easy. Another good one is ‘Express Espresso Yourself.’ And then I decided to come up with quirky phrases about life, like ‘Life is like a roller coaster, buckle up and enjoy the ride.’ Well, the other thing that I did is I tried to copy the quote that popped up and paste it into Google to see if there was already something out there because I was kind of concerned about copyright infringement and potentially getting sued, all things that we need to be concerned about as online business owners. So before I just blindly took the quote and put it on a mug, I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t violating or stepping on anyone else’s toes.
Once I had the idea or the phrase, the next step is to copy the phrase and paste it into Canva. Before pasting it into Canva, you need to head over to Printify, which is the printing service that we use. We need to get the correct dimensions. Basically, I created an account, and I didn’t have a Printify account before. It takes like five seconds to set up. It’s really simple, really easy. Once you get everything caught up, you go over to Catalog and then go to Mugs. I just use this ceramic mug, 11 ounces. Now, the cool thing is they’ll actually give you the dimensions that you can download and put right into Canva, so you know exactly what you’re doing. Then you simply come over to Canva and create that dimension, and then you just paste in your quote. What I did is I simply made sure it fit on one side and then adjusted it to make it aesthetically appealing. Then the final step is simply to just download this to your computer. I always downloaded with a transparent background so this white would go away, and it would actually fit nicely onto my coffee mug.
Now that we have that, you come back over to Printify, and you simply upload the image and then make sure that it looks nice. It’s really as simple as that. The reason why I like this opportunity is that in 10 minutes, you could have 10, 15, 20 of these mugs completely done. You walk away, and then you have the potential of making money. The only problem that I see with this method is that a lot of people search based on keywords, and I didn’t know the keywords to target for this group of people. So it was kind of a challenge to figure that out. What we can do to help with that is to do keyword research. We can title our mugs a little bit better and potentially get discovered.
To date, unfortunately, I have not made a single dime with this method. The original video is probably about two and a half months old at this point, and I haven’t made any money with it. Part of it is I think this is oversaturated. There’s a lot of people creating these quirky, funny mugs, and so there’s a lot of people out there. The other thing too is I didn’t do any keyword research. Going forward, I am going to focus more on keyword-based coffee mugs, not just coffee mugs that are on random things. I want to make sure that I’m focusing on the keywords that are popping up so that it increases my chances to buy.
Unfortunately, with this process, I did not make a dime yet. As I mentioned, part of it is the way that the video is set up, part of it is some of the things that I could have done better. So now that you know that this process has not worked for me yet, and I’m going to continue it, watch this video next because YouTube says it will help you build an online business.
