Hi everyone! Today, I will be showing you how to create an OpenAI account and use ChatGPT. This tutorial is meant for very basic users who have not tried out ChatGPT yet.
First, we’ll need to open Google Chrome. Since I already have an OpenAI account, I’ll be logged into ChatGPT to show you how you can create an account. I’ll open a new incognito window.
Once you are in Google Chrome, you will need to type out ‘ChatGPT’ in Google. Once you search for it, you need to follow the first link. It will take you to the OpenAI website. It will give you two options: login or sign up. Since I am assuming that you do not currently have an OpenAI account, you need to click on ‘sign up’.
Once on the sign-up screen, it will ask you to enter your email address. Since I’m creating this video, I’ll be using a temporary email address. So, I will go to the Temp Mail website. It will create a disposable email address for me. Let’s copy this email address and enter it here.
Now, it will ask me to create a password. You can enter the password of your choice. Once you have created a password, it will send you a verification email on the email address that you have entered. Once you open that email, it will show you a link to verify your email address. You need to click on that link.
Now, the verification is complete. You just need to enter your name. I suggest if you are just trying out ChatGPT, you do not use your current name. You can use any name that you want because the data regulations of ChatGPT mean that it can collect all the data and associate it with your identity. So, I do not recommend using your real name or your birth date while signing up for OpenAI.
Lastly, it will ask you to enter your phone number and whether you have a WhatsApp registered on that number. Once you enter the number, it will ask you whether you have a WhatsApp number or not, and then it will send you an OTP on your WhatsApp that you can enter to complete the verification process. After this, you will be able to simply login.
Since I already have an account, let me get out of the incognito mode to show you how ChatGPT looks. So, once you sign in, it will show up something like this. From here, you can choose whether you want to explore ChatGPT 3.5 or ChatGPT4. ChatGPT4 is currently only available when you have the Plus Membership.
You can basically start talking to ChatGPT like this and ask any questions. I’ve asked ChatGPT how I can sign up on OpenAI, and it gave me these steps.
