How I Passed the CompTIA Security Plus Exam

How I Passed the CompTIA Security Plus Exam

Yo, what is up YouTube? Welcome back to the channel! So, I just passed the CompTIA Security Plus exam about two days ago after studying for nine days using chatGPT. In this video, I’m going to give you guys a complete breakdown of exactly what materials I used to pass the exam on my first try and also go over my study techniques. I’ll walk you guys through exactly what I did to ingrain the material into my head before taking the exam.

Before we get into the video, I want to give you guys some background about myself and some context. I recently graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems, which is a mix of business and IT. During my studies, I took coursework involving cybersecurity and IT-related content, and I also had two summer internships involving cybersecurity. While I have some background in cybersecurity, it was at an entry-level. I didn’t have any intermediate or advanced level knowledge.

Currently, I’m waiting to start my job in about a month, so I have a lot of time to allocate towards studying for different certifications. I was able to study for about three to five hours per day, but I understand that may not be realistic for everyone. If you have other commitments, you may need to allocate more time.

Let’s talk about the resources I used to study for the Security Plus exam. I used four main resources: practice tests from Exam Compass, ChatGPT, practice exams from Professor Messer and Udemy, and Notion as a note-taking platform.

For practice tests, I recommend Exam Compass. They offer 25 completely free practice tests that cover different objectives of the Security Plus exam. I used ChatGPT in conjunction with these practice tests. I would enter a term or concept I was not familiar with into ChatGPT, and it would provide me with an easy-to-understand definition. I would then rephrase it in my own words in my Notion document.

I also used practice exams from Professor Messer and Udemy. These exams helped me gauge my knowledge and identify areas where I needed improvement. I failed a couple of them initially, but as I continued studying and understanding the explanations, my scores improved.

For Performance-Based questions, I found the YouTube channel Cybercraft to be helpful. They provide explanations and walkthroughs of different Performance-Based questions. Watching these videos gave me a better understanding of how to approach these types of questions.

In summary, my study technique involved taking practice tests, using ChatGPT for definitions and explanations, watching videos for Performance-Based questions, and taking practice exams. I studied for about three to five hours per day for nine days and covered all the CompTIA objectives.

Remember, everyone has a different learning style, so feel free to adapt these techniques to suit your needs. Good luck with your exam preparation!
