Hello and welcome back to time-saving tips for teachers. Today, I am here to share with you how ChatGPT can help you with those administrative tasks. How many of you would love some help writing letters or emails? Well, let’s see how ChatGPT can assist us. But before we get started, do you know what ChatGPT is?
ChatGPT is artificial intelligence that talks back to you in text form. It is a chatbot, meaning it’s a talking robot. Let’s take a look and see how it can help you today.
If you have joined me on other videos, you may have noticed that my screen looks different. I changed the settings this time. You can go into settings, and there are only two choices for this green color: dark or light. I thought I would change it up a bit today and have a dark screen.
First, let’s tackle that blank screen syndrome. You know, where you sit in front of that computer screen and you just can’t seem to think of what to write or where to start. ChatGPT can help you with that.
I want to ask ChatGPT to write a template for a welcome back to school letter. I want to be as specific as possible. For example, I want those students to be third-grade students. And ChatGPT generates that welcome back to school letter. This is a good starting place for me. I can go in and get ideas, personalize it, or ask ChatGPT to include certain things that I want in the welcome letter. I can also press regenerate and get another sample.
So maybe you already know what you want in your letter, and you want to just put those ideas into ChatGPT and let ChatGPT make a letter for you. For example, I want to send parents a letter asking them to help with homework. I can just put all of my ideas into the chat box, and ChatGPT will create a nice polished, edited letter for me to send out. Of course, I’d want to go back and read over it and make sure it is stating what I wanted to state, and I might have to make changes to personalize it. But it is a great assistance to me.
Now, let me share with you one other exciting thing. I just think this is amazing. Let’s say I have the letter like I want it, and I have students in my class whose parents don’t speak English. ChatGPT can translate this letter into whatever language I need it translated into. I’m just going to type in ’translate into German’ and let’s see what happens. How about that? Wow, what a help!
