Like me, you certainly receive invoices when you place orders. Some of these invoices are for materials, which we call bills of material in English. In this article, I will explore how artificial intelligence can help process this information.
I recently challenged ChatGPT, an AI model, to extract the table from these invoices. The table contains a list of equipment with their prices, as well as payment information at the bottom. ChatGPT successfully isolated the table cells using different algorithms. It asked for my input to continue the process, and I instructed it to proceed.
To check the result, I asked ChatGPT to extract all the information into an Excel file. When I opened the file, I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the elements of the table had been extracted. The quantities, units (square meters), unit prices, and total prices were all there. This opens up a whole set of possibilities for further data processing in Excel.
In the second part of the challenge, I asked ChatGPT to extract the payment information. It provided me with an Excel file containing the supplier’s reference, banking information, and the total amount to pay.
Overall, this experiment demonstrates how artificial intelligence, specifically advanced data analytics, can greatly assist in processing invoice data. It streamlines the extraction of information and enables further analysis and integration with other tools like databases and Power Query. The potential of AI in invoice processing is immense, and it is exciting to be part of this revolution.
I hope you found this article informative and inspiring. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures in the world of artificial intelligence!
