Getting Started with ChatGPT and AI Chatbots

Getting Started with ChatGPT and AI Chatbots

Good day, Mark Pesi here, author of ‘Getting Started with ChatGPT and AI Chatbots’. Chatbots, now AI chatbots, come in many different flavors, but there are three big ones that you’re normally likely to encounter.

The first one is OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It comes in two versions: a free version that uses GPT 3.5, and a paid version called ChatGPT Plus that uses the latest and greatest GPT 4. If you can afford the $20 a month for ChatGPT Plus, I would strongly advise it because the results you get from that chatbot are noticeably better.

To access ChatGPT, you can use a web browser and go to chat.openai.com. There are also apps available for Android and iPhone.

The second one is Microsoft Bing chat, which is based on GPT 3.5 and GPT 4. Microsoft acquired 49% of OpenAI earlier this year, giving them access to the technology. Bing chat offers three different options: more creative, more balanced, and more precise. It can also generate images using OpenAI’s DALLĀ·E technology.

To use Bing chat, you can use Microsoft Edge or the Bing app available for Android and iOS.

The third one is Google chat, which uses Google’s own language model called PAM. It is web-based and can be accessed at bar.google.com. It’s free to use and requires a Google account.

When choosing between these chatbots, consider their characteristics and pick the one that suits your task. You can also ask the same question to all the chatbots to compare the results.

For more tips and information, you can pre-order my book ‘Getting Started with ChatGPT and AI Chatbots’ from BCS Books. It will be available in January.
