Let’s get started with the first tool, called Magic Right. This feature is currently only available for teachers or staff on a Canada education account, not for students. Magic Right is available on all Canva designs, but it works best on a Canva dock, which is like a visual document creation tool.
To use Magic Right, simply click the plus button and select Magic Right. It is a version of GPT 3.5 embedded into Canva’s platform. You can use it to generate text by providing a prompt. However, there is a character limit, so it’s not suitable for writing multi-page essays. It’s more of a brainstorming tool or a way to get students thinking about a topic.
Another useful feature of Magic Right is the ability to expand text. You can copy the generated text, click the plus button, and choose the option to expand. This can be helpful when you need more content.
Canva has taken precautions to ensure the safety of its AI tools. Magic Right has a character limit and does not generate malicious code. It is a safe tool for students to experiment with AI.
Another tool in Canva is the ability to summarize text. You can copy and paste text from any website, such as an article, and use the summarize text feature to get a concise summary. This can be useful when you need a quick overview of a block of text.
In addition to summarizing, Canva also offers a rewrite feature. After highlighting the text, you can click the magic button and choose the rewrite option to rewrite the text in a different way.
Magic Right is available for all faculty and staff on Canva. It’s a powerful tool that can enhance the creative process and help generate ideas. Although currently not available for students, it’s definitely worth exploring for educators.
