Are you excited or nervous for the future? I would be interested in discussing how people feel about what direction the world is going in. A lot of people think that the world is going in the wrong direction, especially with the innovations going on. A lot of people are excited about new technologies such as AI. Nervousness and discouragement might be better terms to describe how humans feel. We are reactive, not proactive, and we have a lot of problems lined up. Humanity is going full throttle into the steel reinforced wall at the end of an evolutionary cul-de-sac. I am neither excited nor nervous, more like resigned exasperation. We are not prepared for the epic catastrophe we’ve set up for ourselves this century. I am terrified, not because of the tech itself, but because of how it will be weaponized by the rich against the poor. I am pessimistic, as I feel like Brave New World is becoming true. VR, dopamine fixes, short attention span entertainment, hypersexualization, body dysmorphia, social competition, fake news, scams, AI-generated art, social media - it all feels like social bonds are eroding and being replaced by constant competition. It feels stressful. I am afraid that most of the innovation will be abused to enslave us. I am nervous mainly because I anticipate crime getting worse with jobs being automated and no universal basic income in sight. I am hoping I live long enough to see people walking on Mars, but also scared for the future of my kids. The future is uncertain, and people have mixed feelings about it. Some are excited, while others are nervous. The world is messed up and has a lot of problems, but it was even more messed up in the past. New tech always scares people, but I am more worried about global warming in the long term. I guess thankfully I’ll probably be dead before we see that issue become extremely serious. I am nervous but hopeful. There will be many conflicts in the coming centuries. Food and resource shortages will drive global conflict, while huge advances in AI and robotics, combined with advanced medical care, will result in long life spans. This will radically retool the way society works as a whole, as the majority of menial jobs will be completely automated by the year 2200. Some people are indifferent to the future, while others are depressed or afraid. The future is what you make of it. Some are excited about new tech and advancements, while others are nervous about the impact on society and the environment. There are concerns about income inequality, fake news, and the loss of social relationships and trust. Some feel that the future is bleak, while others see it as an exciting time in history. The future is a mix of excitement and nervousness, and everyone has their own perspective on it. It’s important to be aware of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and to work towards creating a better future for all.
