Welcome to It’s Alive! Today, I had an idea. Let’s ask Chad GBT for movie recommendations. Basically, I asked for some underrated and obscure horror movies. Among the suggestions, one film stood out to me the most: ‘Excision’. ‘Excision’ is a movie about an outcast teenager who practices surgical skills and has weird and increasingly violent psychosexual fantasies. This movie reminded me of films like ‘American Mary’ and I decided to give it a watch.
Firstly, I must mention how visually stunning this movie is. The cinematography and imagery are incredibly discomforting and weird, creating an unsettling atmosphere. The acting is fantastic, making the awkwardness even more cringeworthy in a good way. The long shots and stills on people’s faces and food are very discomforting.
Every character in the movie is unique and well-portrayed. Pauline, the protagonist, is a really weird and off-putting character, played extremely well by Annalynne McCord. Grace, Pauline’s little sister, is also a unique character with a progressive illness that adds to the story. The mother is extremely unlikable, while the father is a funny and goofy character.
The movie gets really gory and has some great special effects. It’s enjoyable to look at all the blood, although it’s not on the level of ‘Terrify 2’. The ending is absolutely shocking and disturbing, as all of Pauline’s dreams fall flat on their face and she unintentionally kills her sister. It’s a sad and discomforting scene.
Overall, ‘Excision’ is a fast-paced and enjoyable movie for fans of weird horror. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates this genre. Let me know if you want me to do more videos like this, where I review movies recommended by Chad GBT. Thank you for watching!
