Effective Prompt Engineering for ChatGPT

Effective Prompt Engineering for ChatGPT

In this series, you will learn about ChatGPT prompt engineering. This knowledge will help you write effective and useful prompts. This is part seven of the series, where we will focus on the guide to making ChatGPT think. If you are new to this series, we will cover the following topics:1. How to guide ChatGPT to think2. Iterative prompt development3. Inference and summarizing text4. Text transformation5. Text expansion6. Creating your own chatbot In today’s video, we will explore the guide to making ChatGPT think. This section introduces two key principles: prompting and giving the model time to think. We will break down this section into multiple parts. So far, we have recorded six videos for this section, and this part seven video is the last one. I

n the next video, we will move on to the next section. Principle two is to give the model time to think. In our part six video, we learned about specifying the steps required to complete a task. Today, we will focus on instructing the model to work out its own solution before jumping to conclusions. We will use ChatGPT to demonstrate this. The prompt we will use is as follows: 'Determine if the student solution is correct or not.' The question is about building a solar panel installation and calculating the total cost for the year of operation based on the size of the installation. The student solution provided some correct steps but made a mistake in the final equation. We will modify the prompt to guide ChatGPT to work out the solution and compare it with the student's solution. This will help us determine if the student is correct or incorrect. After modifying the prompt, we submit it to ChatGPT. This time, ChatGPT works out the solution by itself and compares it with the student's solution. It correctly identifies the mistake made by the student and provides the correct solution. We can see that giving ChatGPT more instructions improves its accuracy in evaluating the student's solution. In conclusion, prompt engineering is crucial for effective use of ChatGPT. By guiding the model to think and giving it time to process information, we can improve the accuracy of its responses. In the next video, we will continue exploring different aspects of prompt engineering. Stay tuned for more exciting content in this series!
