Creating a Writing Schedule for NaNoWriMo

Creating a Writing Schedule for NaNoWriMo

Hey Story Builders, Book Nerds, and the Eternally Curious! Welcome back to my channel, Pros and Pastimes. I’m T. Helen Price, and I’m excited for this video. Today, I want to discuss creating a writing schedule for NaNoWriMo.

As a writer going through a transition period, juggling a new job and starting a new manuscript, I need to plan ahead for NaNoWriMo. Instead of manually tallying my writing days and word count, I decided to use AI to help me create a schedule.

I provided the AI with my criteria: I want to reach 50,000 words by November 30th, write every day for the next 30 days, and allocate specific writing time while balancing my full-time job.

The AI generated a schedule that I refined to fit my needs. On weekdays, I will wake up at 4:45 AM and write from 5:00 to 6:00 AM. During my lunch break, I will write for an additional 30 minutes. In the evening, I will dedicate 2 hours to writing, after work.

Saturdays will be my heavy writing days. I will wake up early and write for several hours in the morning. In the evening, I will continue writing to wrap up the day.

Sundays will be a bit different due to family commitments. After spending time with my family and having breakfast, I will write for 2 hours.

My main goal is to earn all the NaNoWriMo badges and complete the discovery draft of my project, ‘Project Passion.’ I’m excited about this project and have shared the premise on my Substack. You can check it out there!

I hope this video has been enlightening for you. Thank you for watching, and I’ll talk to you guys next time. Bye!
