I had an idea a while ago of creating a series of short films about a little Cosmonaut in outer space. The Cosmonaut is tasked with collecting samples, but all he really wants to do is make music art. I wanted the series to have a Soviet-era feel, so I decided to create a fictional language that combines Russian, Hungarian, and Polish.
To create the language, I used AI language models to help me with phonetics, grammar, and vocabulary. I started with simple words like cat, water, and tree, but also included computer terms since the series is set in space.
Once I had the basic building blocks of the language, I wrote sample sentences and even had a dialogue between the Cosmonaut and its robot. To hear what the language sounded like, I used AI to synthesize a voice based on gibberish I spoke. It was fascinating to hear a computer using my voice to speak a language I invented.
To visually represent the language, I used an AI-powered art generator and incorporated Cyrillic references. I created a unique visual language that I plan to use in the series, such as on screens and warning labels.
Creating this language has allowed me to build a more immersive world for the Cosmonaut’s space adventure. I now have a language that characters can speak and a written language that can be printed on objects. It’s an exciting process that wouldn’t have been possible without the help of AI.
Now, I can finally jump into making the episodes and bring this new language to life.
