Choosing Between Unity and Gado for 3D First Person Shooter

Choosing Between Unity and Gado for 3D First Person Shooter

So, I want to create a 3D first person shooter game, but I couldn’t decide whether to use Unity or Gado. I have some experience with Gado, but it has been a while since I last used it. On the other hand, I have used Unity before, but I find it more challenging because I am not familiar with C sharp.

After considering my options, I decided to use Chargpt to help me write the code. Since I am comfortable with Python, it made the coding process easier. However, I still struggled with Unity due to its interface and the steep learning curve of C sharp.

With Chargpt in Unity, I was able to build a simple controller and implement shooting using raycasts. I also managed to make the enemy shoot at me and follow me using raycasts. Although it took me a couple of days and a lot of debugging, I achieved the desired results.

Switching to Gado and using Chargpt made the development process much more logical and intuitive. The node system in Gado allowed me to write code while visualizing the flow, which was a great experience. I could make changes on the go and easily test and debug my code. In just a few hours, I achieved similar results as in Unity.

Based on my experience, Gado feels more user-friendly and easier to understand. The overall feel of the engine is closer to my preferences. Therefore, I have decided to continue working with Gado and start with simpler projects before attempting a complex first person 3D game. I might also consider using third-party assets to speed up the development process.

In conclusion, I did not enjoy working with Unity as much as I did with Gado. Gado provided a more enjoyable and immersive development experience. For now, my focus is on learning and experimenting with Gado, and I hope this article helps others who are facing a similar decision.
