Hey everybody, I do not really know how to start this video, so we are just going to jump right into it. In preparing for the AMCAT, I have been looking for books to read alongside my studies that might complement what I am doing. Most people recommend textbooks, but I wanted something different. I decided to ask Chat GTP for book recommendations, and it came up with some interesting ones.
For general readership, it recommended ‘The Selfish Gene’ by Richard Dawkins, which explores the idea of molecular evolution. Another recommendation was ‘The Disappearing Spoon,’ a chemistry book that delves into the periodic table. Both of these books have been on my reading list for a while.
For the psychology section, it suggested ‘Thinking Fast and Slow’ by Daniel Kahneman. Although I have read it before, it is a lengthy book that I am unsure if I will reread. As for the cars section, it recommended ‘The Elements of Style’ by Strunk and White, which is a classic guide on writing better.
I also asked Chat GTP for another list, and it came up with ‘The Double Helix’ by James Watson, a personal account of the discovery of the DNA structure. ‘Uncle Tungsten’ is an autobiography of Oliver Sacks that also touches on chemistry. ‘The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat’ explores neurological disorders and how the brain works. Lastly, ‘How to Read a Book’ by Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren provides guidelines for critical reading.
While these recommendations seem intriguing, I am unsure if I will have time to read them all while studying for the MCAT and working full-time. However, I will consider them and share my thoughts in future book reviews. If you have any thoughts or recommendations, feel free to share them in the comments below. You can find the chat transcript in the description if you want to explore the recommendations further. Thanks for watching!
