Our first story is about ChatGPT. It launches its first web crawler dubbed GPT bot. Before, ChatGPT had a knowledge cutoff date of September 2021. Now, it’s going to have up-to-date information in real time. ChatGPT previously had web browsing, but that had been taken offline over a month ago. Now, Chachi PT will gather information, allowing the OpenAI team to filter and polish that data before integrating it into its models.
Next, custom instructions are rolling out to everybody, not just paid users. Custom instructions allow users to give ChatGPT initial direction, so they don’t have to start over from scratch each time they use it. One of the most popular ways this is being used is by telling ChatGPT that it doesn’t need to mention that it’s a large language model. ChatGPT is also rolling out a bunch of quality of life improvements, including example prompts and suggested replies.
Nvidia had a big event called Siggraph where they launched multiple AI products. One of the highlights is the GH-200 chip, which significantly reduces the cost of training and fine-tuning models. Nvidia is also partnering with Hugging Face to offer top-of-the-line GPUs to developers and researchers through the Hugging Face platform named Nvidia GDX Cloud.
Disney has created a task force to explore how to use AI across their entire business. They are looking to develop AI applications in-house as well as partnerships with startups. Disney wants to use AI to help reduce the cost of their big-budget movies.
