Automating Network Configuration with OpenAI's GPT

Automating Network Configuration with OpenAI's GPT

Say hello to the chatty video, a Cutting Edge AI language model developed by OpenAI. It is trying to understand and generate text that resembles human speech, making it an ideal tool for automating various tasks.

In this article, I will demonstrate how I use the GPT model to automate my network configuration. I will start by asking a simple question to develop a Python code that charges GPT. Then, I will log into the switch or any network device, issue the ’enable’ command, input the password, and finally, store the running configuration and print the output in a text file.

To achieve this, I will create a Python script using the Searchipity tool. The script will be generated based on my request, and I can execute it in Visual Studio code. By running the script, I can automate the process of configuring network devices without being an experienced Python developer.

With this automation, I can impress my managers by quickly and accurately configuring network devices. The script will embed the password, enable password, and IP address of the device, eliminating the need to enter them repeatedly.

After executing the script in Visual Studio code and changing the necessary environmental variables or IP address, it will automatically save the running configuration file into the specified directory. This allows for efficient and secure network configuration in production environments.

Stay tuned to my channel for more use cases and tutorials on network automation.
