Firestorm
Here is an update from the Lit RPG Adventures Workshop, where I have been working on our chatGPT powered roguelike. One thing I love about deadlines is the sound they make when they go flying by. I had promised to have a pre-alpha launch available to play by the first of the month, and now we are three days into August. But rest assured, I have been hard at work in the background.
As you can see, we are now on dungeon depths two, and I have been going through chapter four. It has been a bit more challenging than I anticipated to dump all the data and reload it, but I have made progress. I still need to save and add the shop, but we are getting closer.
The save and load system is now working, and I believe we are ready to have some players come in and start fine-tuning the game loop and adding more content. If you are interested in participating, please let me know in the comments below.
I have also been looking into a saving system using Firebase, which would allow players to carry their progress across devices. However, there is a cost involved, so I will hold off on implementing it until we gauge the level of interest.
Overall, I am excited about the progress we have made. This game is not just a money-making venture for me; it is a passion project. I have learned from past attempts to merge game design with the concept of being trapped in a game, and I believe this time we have a stronger game with better graphics and a more engaging game loop.
There are still some decisions to be made, such as whether to include permadeath and how often to save progress. I want to strike a balance between challenge and progression. I also have plans to incorporate NPCs, factions, and the ability to tame monsters.
I appreciate your patience as I continue to work on this game. I apologize for missing the deadline, but I want to ensure that the game is polished and enjoyable. Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for your support!
