Hi and welcome back to Digital Tool Case! In this video, let’s talk about ChatGPT.
It’s been a while since we last discussed the ChatGPT, but here it is! There is a new update as of August 21, 2023. Now, custom instructions are available to all users, including those in the EU and UK. Previously, they were only available in the USA.
But what are custom instructions? Let me show you quickly what they are and how you can use them, even with the free version of ChatGPT.
Before we dive into custom instructions, I want to mention another new feature. This feature is not for ChatGPT, but for GPT 3.5 Turbo APIs. Now, you can fine-tune your model, which brings improved stability, reliable output formatting, and custom tone. You can upload your files and create a fine-tuning job. This will be very useful for anyone using APIs. Keep in mind that there are costs associated with training your model.
Now, let’s focus on ChatGPT and explore custom instructions. You can find them in the free version of ChatGPT. In my case, they are located here. Custom instructions allow you to provide additional information to ChatGPT, which helps it generate better responses. You can include data such as your location, occupation, hobbies, and interests. For example, I included that I’m based in Italy and I’m an SEO expert and blogger. These instructions make the writing more focused on what you need.
Additionally, you can specify how formal or casual you want ChatGPT to be and how long or short the responses should generally be. It’s important to note that if you use these fields, all your chats will use them. If you want to change them between different conversations, you will need to update the instructions again.
Let’s look at some examples of how you can use custom instructions. You can include a reference to your business when writing about your services. For example, I asked ChatGPT to write a Facebook ad copy for my SEO services, and it used my business name, Digital Tool Case, in the response. You can also specify a preferred style of writing, such as being more casual, and always include examples.
Another interesting use case is using analogies. For example, I mentioned that I love chess and asked ChatGPT to use analogies from the game of chess in the response. And it worked! The response included chess analogies, demonstrating the power of custom instructions.
I encourage you to try custom instructions for yourself and find the best use case for ChatGPT. It’s available even in the free version, so you don’t need the plus version to access this feature.
That’s all for this video. I hope you found it helpful. If you want to learn more about ChatGPT, check out my other videos on my channel. Thank you for watching, and I’ll see you soon in the next video!
