An Evaluation of an Essay Using TOEFL Rubric

An Evaluation of an Essay Using TOEFL Rubric

The first step is to take the instructions that I gave you here in the blog post. You want to start with 0.1, remember that. You’ll have to put your reading passage, your listening script, your example essay, and keep everything else the same. So, I’m going to copy this and put all these instructions here. And this isn’t a perfect system exactly, chat it says at the very bottom it may produce inaccurate information about people, places, or facts, even about writing. So, I’m going to go ahead and generate the evaluation and also the comments. So, I just put everything in there. Okay, let’s see how it did here. Okay, so I’ll provide you with a detailed evaluation and revision of the essay based on the rubric and your specific request. Okay, so we have 8 out of ten, seven out of 10. We can see here we have organization 10 out of 10, 8 out of 10, 7 out of 10. We have some line-by-line explanations about certain Corrections that were made in the writing and why. We have mechanics and punctuation six out of ten, nine into ten. The revised essay score is 30 out of 30. You can see that, right? Now let’s go back one more thing. It didn’t give me exactly what I said I wanted to know what my score is. It gave me a lot of feedback as you can see here, so sometimes you have to be patient with the program. So you can see that the content was very strong, organization is 8 out of ten, grammar sentence structure we can see is the weakest point. So then I’m going to say there out of a score, out of a total of 30 points. What score if it estimates it right? So watch this. And this is actually pretty accurate because I know the student, I know her writing ability so I can confirm this. So it says based on the TOEFL writing rubric in my evaluation, I would give your original essay a score of 24. Your essay effectively addresses the prompt, organizes its content logically, and maintains a good level of vocabulary choice. However, it has some issues with grammar, sentence structure, mechanics, and punctuation that impact overall clarity and readability. You see that? So this is a pretty accurate score. So you can see through the video that I pasted what you see at my blog. And then I got the comments and the feedback, and then I asked it one more question, and then I got what I wanted to do is I wanted to take this these scores here and convert them into a point range. So it gave it around 24 points out of 30, and that’s exactly what the student’s writing level is according to the TOEFL exam. So now you kind of see how it works.
