To illustrate, let’s say I want to learn Swedish. I asked ChatGPT to write a curriculum for three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
For the beginner level, I need to learn the alphabet, pronunciation, basic vocabulary and phrases, grammar fundamentals, numbers and counting, and finally, reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
For the intermediate and advanced levels, the curriculum can be customized according to your preferences. You can focus on specific skills, such as speaking, or ask ChatGPT to include a daily or weekly plan.
ChatGPT is also useful for generating translations. While Google Translate provides basic translations, ChatGPT goes beyond that. It provides additional information and context during the translation process.
For example, if I want to know the translation of the word ’excellent’ in Swedish, ChatGPT not only gives me the translation (‘UTMärkt’), but also provides synonyms and idioms using that word. It even suggests topics to write about in Swedish.
Another useful feature is asking ChatGPT about the cultural context of a word. It can tell you how to use a word in real life situations.
To make the most of ChatGPT as a conversation partner, remember to be specific, clear, and provide context. This will help ChatGPT ask follow-up questions and provide more accurate responses.
