Hello and welcome to my channel! My name is Natasha, and I am a data scientist. In this video, I am going to give you a roadmap to learn data science with the help of ChatGPT. But before we get into this roadmap, let me give you a bit of background about my own data science journey.
Around five years ago, I was pursuing a computer science undergraduate degree in university. Despite studying computer science, I had no idea how to code and apply theoretical concepts to create actual data science or machine learning models. I took countless online courses and data science boot camps, but I still felt like there was a barrier I couldn’t break through.
I was stuck in what is known as the tutorial trap or tutorial hell. Every time I took a new online course, I would create a data science project, but I would realize that there was another concept I didn’t understand. I would go back and take another 10 online courses, and the cycle would continue. It wasn’t until I realized that enough was enough and I needed to get a job in the field that things started to change.
I reached out to other data science professionals and asked them how they managed to get jobs in the field. I consolidated the knowledge they gave me and created my own data science roadmap. This roadmap helped me land my very first job in the field within six months.
In this video, I will be giving you a reimagined version of the data science roadmap that I used to teach myself this subject. This version will show you how you can use ChatGPT to learn data science. ChatGPT is a game changer for learning any new skill, and I wish it was around when I started learning data science.
The first step to becoming a data scientist is to learn how to code. You still need to know how to code if you want to become a data scientist. Don’t listen to those who say AI models can write code for you. You need to understand the code, debug it, and validate it. I recommend starting with Python or R. Python is easy to use, versatile, and widely used by many companies. You can take an introductory Python course to learn the fundamentals of Python programming.
Once you have learned the fundamentals of Python, it’s time to practice your programming skills. You can use ChatGPT to generate Python programming practice questions at a beginner or intermediate level. This will help you improve your coding skills and apply what you have learned.
After gaining proficiency in coding, it’s time to learn data science and machine learning. I recommend taking an online course like ‘Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp’ by Jose Portilla. This course will teach you the fundamentals of data science and machine learning using Python.
While taking the course, you can use ChatGPT to practice your data science skills. Ask ChatGPT for practice questions on different data science concepts. This way, you can reinforce your learning and become a better data scientist.
To supplement your data science learning, you can also use the Code Interpreter plugin in ChatGPT. This plugin allows you to run code, build machine learning models, and analyze data within the ChatGPT interface. You can use it to practice data manipulation, build machine learning models, and get feedback on your code.
Once you have completed the online courses and gained familiarity with data science concepts, it’s time to build data science projects. Start with simple projects using datasets like the Titanic survival prediction dataset or the Boston house pricing dataset. Analyze these datasets, build machine learning models, and use ChatGPT for guidance and feedback.
Building data science projects is crucial not only for learning but also for getting a job in the field. Employers value practical experience, and having a portfolio of data science projects will set you apart from other candidates. Create a data science portfolio website, showcase your projects on GitHub, and build at least three data science projects that you can showcase.
Remember to use ChatGPT as a guide and not simply copy-paste generated code. Use it to get feedback, ask for guidance, and improve your projects. This way, you will become a better data scientist and stand out in the field.
In conclusion, learning data science with the help of ChatGPT can be a game changer. Follow the roadmap I have provided, learn how to code, practice your programming skills, take online courses, build data science projects, and use ChatGPT as your guide. With dedication and practice, you can become a successful data scientist.
