Everyone is talking about how phenomenal AI is for learning anything, and I wanted to use it for my exams. However, all the advice and information out there is vague and impractical. So, I created my own realistic and efficient study method that uses chatGPT to learn faster than ever before.
To start, I begin by creating 20 multiple choice questions with five answer options for each topic I want to study. I tailor these questions to my specific exam and ask chatGPT to explain each answer in a tabular format, making the information more digestible.
I believe in starting each study session by testing myself because it kick-starts my brain and helps me think about the important things related to the topic. These practice questions also help me identify the subtopics I need to focus on.
Next, I use chatGPT to provide a basic overview of the topic, covering the most important parts. I read through this overview and watch a quick video to visualize the main processes.
Another useful feature of chatGPT is its ability to summarize long-form videos. Before watching a video, I get the transcript and ask chatGPT to summarize the key points for me. This saves time and helps me decide which parts of the video are worth watching.
After going through the overview and videos, I start skimming the condensed notes or textbooks. As I read, I convert the information into recall questions. ChatGPT can assist in generating these questions, but I also add my own to ensure all the details are covered.
While reading, I actively evaluate the information and compare it with other sources. I think about the gaps in the explanations and ask chatGPT to provide more details or clarify specific concepts. This deep learning process helps me understand and remember the information better.
I also use chatGPT to come up with analogies that simplify complex processes. This allows me to connect new information to pre-existing knowledge and aids in understanding.
Throughout the study session, I practice the recall questions I created and try to answer them without any resources. I then compare my answers with chatGPT’s responses and refer back to textbooks or condensed notes to ensure I have a comprehensive understanding.
This study method combines active learning, deep learning, and effective recall strategies, all enhanced by the assistance of chatGPT. It is important to note that chatGPT should not be relied upon as the sole source of information, but rather as a tool to supplement and enhance the learning process.
By following this method, I have found that I can absorb and retain more information, making my study sessions more efficient and effective. If you want to improve your ability to remember what you study, I highly recommend trying this approach.
