10 Most Useful Excel Formulas

10 Most Useful Excel Formulas

Welcome to today’s tutorial where we will explore the 10 most useful formulas in Excel. In the first part, we will cover seven or eight of these formulas, and in the second part, we will cover the remaining formulas.

Let’s start with the ‘Sum’ formula. This formula allows you to add up the values in a selected range of cells. You can either select all the cells you want to add or just a few cells that are not located together. Similarly, the ‘Average’ formula calculates the average of the values in a selected range of cells.

Next, we have the ‘If’ formula, which can be simple or complex. It allows you to set conditions and perform different actions based on those conditions. For example, you can use the ‘If’ formula to assign a grade based on a student’s score.

The ‘Count’ formula is used to count the number of cells that meet a specific criteria. You can use this formula to count how many cells have a value greater than 50, for example.

Another useful formula is the ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ formulas. These formulas allow you to extract a specific number of characters from a string. For example, you can extract the machine number from a running number by using the ‘Left’ formula.

Lastly, the ‘Concatenate’ formula is used to join multiple strings together. You can use the ‘&’ symbol or the ‘Concatenate’ function to combine strings. For example, you can join the machine number and the branch together using the ‘Concatenate’ formula.

In the second part of this tutorial, we will cover the ‘Lookup’, ‘Index’, and ‘Match’ formulas, which are also very useful for looking up values in a range of cells. If you have any other formulas or functions you would like to learn about, let me know in the comments below. Thank you!
